North Carolina Camp Accommodations
During the five days, four nights at the Wide Open Cross Country Camp, athletes will stay in either bunk house or dorm style rooms with community showers and bathrooms. Male and female athletes will stay in separate buildings. Male and female athletes are not allowed in the opposite gender’s sleeping or showering areas for any reason.
Coaches will stay in semi-private suite or dorm style rooms with one to three other coaches. The suite style rooms share a bathroom between two rooms.
Temperatures at out North Carolina location during running camp typically range from the low 60s during the night to the high 80s during the day. Athletes should pack a variety of clothing to feel comfortable with the range of temperatures as well as jackets or other gear for rain.
For our Alabama location, temperatures can range from low 80s to the mid 90s. However, with miles of wide shaded trails, our morning and early evening runs will be in noticeably cooler temperatures.
Camp Meals and Food
The price of Wide Open Cross Country Camp covers three meals a day for the duration of camp. All meals are prepared by a professional chef. Campers and coaches are allowed to bring snacks and sports drinks. We ask that you not bring any snacks that contain peanut or nut products. Ridge Haven Conference and Retreat Center will open their camp store daily after dinner for athletes to purchase snacks and drinks.
Please make the staff aware of any food allergies, religious dietary considerations , or any other dietary issues such as vegetarianism, veganism, or hypoglycemia when registering. Campers with dietary considerations will be provided alternative meals throughout the week of camp.
