Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! This is the day you have ALL been waiting for: the arrival of Camp News for Week Two of Wide Open Cross Country Camps. It was an incredible second week of camp with talented athletes, great speakers and coaches, and the crazy, funny counselors. We would like to give a special thanks to St. Bernard Preparatory School for hosting our camp and allowing everything to run smoothly. We’d also like to thank the head coaches, assistant coaches, trainer, and photographers who helped make this week of camp as amazing as ever!
One of the most memorable aspects of camp is the filming of the daily Wide Open Camp News. Logging many late nights and long hours, our counselors channeled their inner wild side, displaying their alter egos or hidden talents. The various adventures of Camp News are always a fun, jovial time for everyone at camp. If you enjoy the below news segments, check out our YouTube channel for previous years!
The first episode of Camp News included the hype (or not-so-hype) videos advertising the counselors for the Wide Open Draft and showcased the beginning journey of Helga and Jillian with the Narewski Ab Challenge Program. Is Counselor Sean actually good at the cup song? Is Counselor Sierra fit or actually a couch potato? Does Counselor Hunter from Wide Open wear Nikes? Does Counselor Paul even enjoy having fun? Watch out for Counselor Zach not only on the track, but also on the racetrack. Maggie is really talented at many things, according to our statistical analysis. Counselor Amy is actually lactose intolerant. And is Counselor Katherine a giraffe?
The second episode of Camp News brought us many more new and exciting announcements. Apparently, it seems that the only thing Counselor Paul likes to do is sleep. Jillian and Helga can’t seem to get enough gossip in about the various hype videos. Counselor Katherine was quoted to say, “Helga and Jillian: gossip so very false that it almost sounds true.” Campers also saw the first view of a struggling athlete, Jeffrey, who would embark on the journey of a lifetime. Counselor Hunter said, in regards to Jeffrey, “The transformation of Jeffrey was eye-opening. It will inspire people for decades.” We also witness firsthand the prowess of Wide Open Camp legend: Flowmaster Flash.
The third episode of Camp News followed up the exciting yet stressful Wide Open Scavenger Hunt. Our counselors decided they should hit the run way modeling the various camp items for sale, but let’s be honest…Counselor Zach does NOT need to wear the singlet. Counselor Margaret must have learned her A-skip from Coach Narewski and Helga and Jillian were able to use the new Narewski Nutrtion App to show us the good nutrition, in a PECULIAR way.
The final day of Camp News concluded one of the best weeks ever. To start, Counselor Katherine actually admitted she was a giraffe!! Helga and Jillian decided to team up and using the new Narewski Form App, they helped their friend Jeffrey lose his excess weight. Counselor Paul, in his cinema debut, helped the campers figure out the frustrating teacup problem. Guest Counselor Kyle described it as, “Teatime with Paul was fulfilling, comforting, and nap time. Twas truly a one hit wonder.” If LeBron James is a teacup, but the Fairlife Chocolate Milk is not a teacup, then is Counselor Amy a teacup? No, that’d be absurd. Closing off Camp News, it was Flowmaster Flash making, yet again, another appearance and dropping another hit single. Counselor Sean described the raps of Flowmaster Flash as “inspiring, rhyming, and fairlife-ing, leaving one to ask: who is Flowmaster Flash?” Be on the look out for his upcoming album on Itunes.
